  5.     The tug-of-war between President Corazon Aquino and former
  6. First Lady Imelda Marcos over the burial of deposed dictator
  7. Ferdinand Marcos continued last week without resolution. After
  8. meeting with 14 Congressmen and governors from northern Luzon,
  9. Aquino agreed to allow Marcos' body to be flown directly from
  10. Hawaii, where the former President died two years ago, to his
  11. northern Luzon birthplace for burial -- providing Marcos'
  12. followers would not use the event for political purposes. An
  13. agreement seemed at hand.

  15.     But in New York City, Imelda Marcos, who plans a return to
  16. the Philippines early next month for the first time since the
  17. Marcoses went into exile in 1986, scuttled the plan. It was her
  18. husband's dying wish to be buried in Manila, said she. "This was
  19. his choice. I am his wife, and I will not violate his word on
  20. my honor."
